toni's travel journal

chapter 1: where are you now, kuñatai?

In the universe of toni · gie, jewelry consists of narrative plots that escape the margins of a story to become reality. We operate as a travel journal, where each chapter is a collection inspired by a specific territory and a feeling.

We are a Paraguayan artisanal luxury brand that defines its essence as a miniature tekoha: the territory where the being dwells and recognizes itself.

The first chapter is born from a question that echoes in Demetrio Ortiz’s guarania, "Recuerdos de Ypacaraí": ¿dónde estás ahora, kuñataî? (where are you now, young woman?).

In the search for that identity, we encountered a historical truth of the War of the Triple Alliance (1864-1870): Paraguayan women donated their jewelry as an act of resistance. That treasure was never restored, and they rebuilt the nation upon the void of that surrendered identity.

This collection is an act of poetic justice that seeks to symbolically return those jewels to the Soul of Paraguay.

One of them was Carmen Daicuaai (from the Guaraní ndaikuaai: "I don't know"). For us, Carmen is the soul of a nation that lived in mourning for a century. With silver threads, we weave Carmen’s memory to restore her brilliance and her name, transforming her into Carmen Sapucái: the shout that sets the voice free.

The brand fuses the rigor of architectural academia with the empirical wisdom of master artisans of filigree, an ancient Paraguayan technique currently at risk of extinction.

Our creative process begins in literature and materializes through experimental sketches and prototypes, which are then translated by master goldsmiths into high-purity silver threads.

We are the bridge between structure and memory; the proof that design has the power to heal history.
